Brisbane Stakeholders Forum

On 7th July, a Stakeholder Forum was held in Brisbane.  The aim of the forum was to bring gaseous fire suppression system experts together to provide an overview of the licencing system, current and future directions for scheduled gases and an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.

The forum included the following topics:

  • Overview of the Fire Protection Industry Board and the licensing system
  • HFC (e.g. FM200) phasedown
  • What licence do I need to ensure compliance with the legislation?
  • Modern system design techniques
  • What does the future of gas suppression systems look like?

The Stakeholder Forum was a success and was attended by members from the Queensland fire protection industry, facility managers and representatives from Government.  It was also an opportunity for the Fire Protection Industry (ODS & SGG) Board members to participate in conversations with industry representatives and be informed of current issues.

National Industry Stakeholders Forum

In September 2016, the Board held a national industry stakeholder forum which included industry specific presentations from industry experts ranging from building, marine, mining and aviation.

The forum also included a presentation from the  Department of Environment and Energy on the outcomes from the review of the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act 1989 and associated regulations.

Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence - National Seminar 

In June 2014, the Board held a EAHL - National Seminar series to facilitate the rollout of Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence - Qualified Persons (Licence 6). 

The EAHL - National Seminar presentations covered the following:

  • How best to transition to the EAHL - Qualified Persons (Licence 6)
  • Current training pathways and options for technicians to demonstrate competence against the units of competency required for attainment of an EAHL - Qualified Persons (Licence 6).
  • The regulatory requirements associated with the use of Ozone Depleting Substances and Synthetic Greenhouse Gases in relation to EAHL - Qualified Persons (Licence 6);
  • The transition from an EAHL - Experienced Persons (Licence 6) to an EAHL - Qualified Persons (Licence 6)
  • A road map of the various training pathways available to obtain units of competency needed to transition to an EAHL - Qualified Persons (Licence 6)
